Gawai Dayak
Gawai Dayak is an annual thanksgiving festival celebrated in Sarawak, Malaysia, and West Kalimantan, Indonesia. In Malaysia, it is recognized as a public holiday and serves as a culmination of the rice harvesting season. The term ‘Gawai’ translates to ‘festival’, while ‘Dayak’ refers to various indigenous groups in Malaysia. Commencing on the evening of May 31st, this festival, open to all ages, features a vibrant array of ceremonies, music, parties, dancing, poetry, feasting, and other traditional rituals and activities.
