Sukkot

Sukkot commemorates the forty-year nomadic life of the Jewish people spent in the Sinai desert in their travels to the Promised Lands. After escaping slavery, the Jewish settled in the land of Canaan. Sukkot symbolises the weakness of human beings to God and nature and acts as a reminder that God created their sense of security and protection in this journey.

On this day, Jewish people build a hut, the sukkah, in their garden. The sukkah must consist of two and a half walls and a roof made of branches and leaves, ensuring the sky is still visible when inside the sukkah.
