National Hat Day encourages Australians to wear a hat and make a donation to support mental illness.  Hat Day symbolises lifting the lid on mental illness.100 percent of the donations goes directly to research helping the one in five Australians affected by depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. Hat Day events are held each year on this day, raising funds with families, friends, sports teams and workplaces.
